I would like to thank Chief Lampreau of Simpcw First Nation publicly.

Dear Chief Lampreau:

I just wanted to take the time to officially thank you for your actions at the Trans Mountain Expansion Project update meeting at the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) this past week in Vancouver. It took me a bit of reflection for it to fully dawn on me regarding the incredible gesture you made for the local order of government.

You pointed out to Trans Mountain representatives that everyone, such as the municipal government of Valemount, should have been afforded the same level of access to senior Trans Mountain management as Simpcw First Nation did during the course of the Trans Mountain Expansion Pipeline project.

It is very compassionate of you, representing Simpcw First Nation, to stand up for the rights and equal voice of others, no sooner than starting the journey yourself for fair rights of First Nations on our shared path to reconciliation.

As a rookie elected official of a regional district government situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Simpcw First Nation, I really want to drive home how appreciated your actions are and it is something I will share with the Area “A” community.

A very sincere, ‘Thank you.’

Usoff Tsao,

TNRD Director for electoral Area “A” (Wells Gray Country)
